Cognitive deficits will impair a person’s ability to function independently in performing everyday living activities, remembering things that have just happened, having insight into how others are feeling and will impact on how they interpret and respond to the environment and the people they are living with. This module aims to help you implement strategies that result in the best quality care outcomes for your residents with cognitive impairments.

The ACFI provides a mandatory assessment for the cognition domain (PAS-CIS or ACFI 6 Checklist), however the EBCAT looks beyond the ACFI and has recommended a broader selection of assessment tools for cognition.
