Welcome

This interactive learning program will take you through the Evidence Based Clinical Assessment Toolkit (EBCAT) and supporting resources. This program was designed by Applied Aged Care Solutions (AACS) to help Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services staff become leaders in best practice care, using accountable documentation, evidence informed assessment practices and tools, resulting in the best possible ACFI outcomes. Care and funding is best defended when the process and tools are evidence-informed, care is based on best clinical practices, and the system provides transparency and accountability for all stakeholders. The EBCAT addresses the documentation and assessment processes, care planning and delivery, staff training and development, and provides an integrated approach to best care that meets ACFI requirements. The EBCAT was designed to provide a streamlined and structured approach by:

  • Using a consistent process across all domains that fits into the care continuum process
  • Informing on objective and evidence informed assessments and strategies
  • Meeting the ACFI requirements and the broader healthcare needs of residents
  • Developing an accountable documentation system, and
  • Provision of an evidence informed rationale for the care required

This unique e-learning package will provide you with:

  • Access to the EBCAT products, resources and reference materials
  • Resources for use when training the care team, at any time
  • A guide to the EBCAT process, its tools, and educational resources
  • Testing understanding of the content

Resources

The Introduction Guide is a resource for the organisation’s Nursing Management team.  It is designed to provide the Nursing Management team with a guide to their role in the implementation of the Evidence-Based Clinical Assessment Toolkit (EBCAT).  It also provides a description of the toolkits fundamental aspects.   As the same format and structure is used throughout all the EBCAT Workbooks, the Introduction Guide presents the background to the development of this structure and justification for the steps taken. A descriptive outline and visual overview of the six Workbooks, Assessment Packs and Quick Guides is presented along with an explanation of how they should be used and by whom to ensure effective implementation.
